One face looks down, pensive. The other looks up and forward, optimistic. In Janus of Love, an ancient form becomes a meditation on love’s endings and beginnings.
Thalia, doubled
Both faces of Janus of Love are drawn from Thalia, a head modelled on the artist’s mother. Petrides brings two expressions of the same person together in a single sculpture.

The making
The process begins with clay modelling, followed by a 3D scan that becomes an editable digital model. SculptBot, the large-format printer designed and built by the artist and his team, prints the form, which is then reworked by hand before coating and patination.
